Read about few law cases of sexual assault on young children recently. I couldn't imagine what's on a little girl's mind who went through a sexual abuse, rape or unimaginable harassment till she grows into a beautiful young lady?
Victims have different behavioral patterns in coping with the incident depending on the micro and macro factors. When societal expectations on the assault are not met, the victim behavior are re-examined to make more sense. And some victim will even try to normalize the situation. The aftermath of a sexual assault is traumatic. Uneasiness,self blame,guilt, disorders,distrust, anxiety....She might be very protective of not only her body, but her heart as well. Some victims of extremely violent rape, or those who were assaulted repeatedly or at a very young age, may even need treatment for the rest of their lives.
One of the hardest part, forgiveness is part of healing.
